As Seen on Channel 5 Cowboy Builders
When the team from Channel 5's Cowboy Builders got in touch to appeal for assistance for a single mum fallen victim to an untrustworthy tradesman, Macks Plastering were happy to pick up hawk and trowel and join the team assembled to restore her faith in Britain's tradesmen.
Unable to live in the house since her builder left the job, Amanda Goldthorpe-Hall was forced to move back in with her parents in Southampton - resulting in her having to make a 100-mile round trip to take her son to school. After paying the builder £20,500 of her life savings, Amanda was left with an unfinished and incorrectly built extension and a house open to the elements, without hot water or heating.
Never being able to resist a damsel in distress, Adam sped over to Fleet to ensure that the plastering work was finished on schedule for the big reveal date.
It was enormously satisfying to have the opportunity to be part of a project that made such a difference to someone's life. Watch the Fleet episode of Cowboy Builders again on the Channel 5 website, and find Macks Plastering listed on the suppliers page!
Amanda was so pleased with her new home that she asked the show's producers for all of the contact details of the trades involved in transforming her home. She was so grateful she even offered Adam singing lessons (which he graciously declined - although perhaps there's a gap in the market for a singing plasterer?). We were very touched by Amanda's comments, and thrilled to have made such a difference to her life.
"I am absolutely delighted with the work undertaken. The house looks beautiful, the walls and ceilings are flawless. I would recommend Adam and his team to you most highly. I found Adam because my home was previously wrecked by an unscrupulous builder and Adam came in to work on my house after an appeal by the Channel 5 TV programme Cowboy Builders who helped us put our home back together. His standard of workmanship, his credentials (all of which were thoroughly checked by the TV programme before he came to work on my house) and the finished result are impeccable and I am very grateful to him for contributing to the reconstruction of my home. He is definitely one of the good guys!"
