Macks Plastering Leaving Checkatrade
Macks Plastering Statement Regarding our Decision to Leave Checkatrade
With a heavy heart I have come to the decision that it is time for Macks Plastering to end our membership with Checkatrade. Sadly, I no longer feel that the values and ethos of Checkatrade are in alignment with Macks Plastering, and I no longer wish to associate our brand with theirs.
Having been proud Checkatrade members for almost ten years and achieved in excess of 500 positive feedbacks from happy clients, it is with sadness that I feel I have been given no option but to end the relationship. When Checkatrade was originally created by Kevin Byrne, a hard working carpet cleaner who wanted to create a platform to genuinely help the public avoid rogue traders, I felt that the values and ethos of Kevin's vision were a perfect fit with mine. New members were stringently checked and verified and almost always visited in person.
Checkatrade was taken over by Homeserve in 2017, a company fined £30.6 million in 2014 for mis-selling and mis-use of data. Since the takeover, membership fees have increased dramatically and new members are not checked as stringently as they once were. To be clear I am not stating that all Checkatrade members are not trustworthy, I am aware there are still some very reputable and respectable members of Checkatrade. However, the relaxation of the vetting process for new members does not fit with the original values that the company was set up with. There are many reasons why I feel it is time to leave Checkatrade.
Thank you to our wonderful clients who have supported Macks Plastering with some excellent reviews over the years.
I have now decided to start the process of building up reviews on Google. Transparency, integrity and honesty are central to my approach at Macks Plastering and I feel that there ought to be an element of accountability. I would like prospective future clients to be able to read what past clients thought of the service and workmanship they received. With that in mind I would ask any past clients that are willing to perhaps take a few minutes to leave a review of Macks Plastering on Google telling others what you thought of your experience.
Many thanks for your continued support.
Best wishes
Adam McDonnell
